JESSE
The following e-mail regarding Jesse, purchased from us as a puppy,
 was received in December, 2005.

Hi Larry,
Our puppy Jesse is really a big boy and such a love. The only thing is he doesn't realize is how strong he is when he comes running full speed at you. He has almost knocked me down a couple of times. But he is now starting to understand to put the brakes on before he reaches you or he will run by and come back.
At first our other collie Codi wasn't too happy with him, because he kept stealing all of her toys and chew bones, but now they are inseparable.
Well, have a nice and safe Holiday.

MISSY and TOBY MISSY
The following four email messages are about Missy, a Wilding collie adopted as an adult. Her family had two indoor dogs and two more living outside with the sheep which they protected from predators. The most recent correspondence was from December, 2005.

This is an unbelievable dog!!! It is as if she has lived here her whole life!! No problems with the other dogs, cats, sheep, etc. I brought her in and introduced her to my 2 dogs. She came upstairs with me and I put her in the crate. She didn't like it so I took her out and she slept next to the bed. This a.m. I took her and the other 4 dogs for a walk in one of the pastures (without sheep). I took her collar off and she just walked right beside me.

She has met the sheep and did not really show any interest in them or the chickens. Maybe she is just too scared, I don't know. This is really unbelievable! She just stays right by my side and is so good. I will keep you posted. And thanks so much for breeding such great dogs.

She is doing great and is becoming quite the character! She LOVES attention and reminds me so much of Lassie. Our Golden is helpless and when he needs something, he just stands there and cries. Missy cannot tolerate the crying and starts barking to get our attention to "help" Toby. I can't believe how much she reminds me of Lassie. I absolutely love her! Is this the normal Collie temperament or is she special??

I have been meaning to send you this picture for almost a year now. Our Golden, Toby, had an accident on the ice in our driveway. In this picture he was very old (we just had to put him to sleep several weeks ago) and deaf. He was down for some time and it took us a while to get him up. He was starting to get shocky so we put him on a sleeping bag in front of the fire and covered him with a blanket.
Missy was so worried about him, she actually laid on top of him!! She is such a mother hen! We just love her and I can't tell you how much she reminds us of Lassie!
